Michael Frank Koeninger's Obituary
Michael Frank Koeninger, 72, passed away November 24, 2018, in Dallas, Texas. He was born July 15, 1946, in Vernon, Texas, the eldest son of Frank and Jane Koeninger.He is survived by his wife Sherry, his sons Brent and Christopher and their families, his brothers Richard and William and their families, and many others in an extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gary.Mike was employed for 33 years by KFC, retiring in 2005. He ended his corporate career as a regional franchising director responsible for over 500 restaurants in nine states. He earned many business awards during his KFC career, including the company’s coveted P.E.T.E. award in 1998 as Franchise Business Coach of the Year.Mike graduated from high school in Argentia, Newfoundland, while his father was stationed there at a U.S. naval base. He earned his BA degree from Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma City, OK, and his MBA from Oklahoma City University, both while working full-time.Mike was a member of Greenland Hills United Methodist Church in Dallas. He enjoyed fishing, golf, travel, and especially spending time with his family and friends. His cheerful, friendly demeanor and infectious sense of humor, inspiring work ethic, entertaining storytelling, and quick willingness to help others will always be remembered.A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., January 26, 2019, at Greenland Hills UMC, 5835 Penrose Avenue, Dallas, TX.
