Michael David Marshall's Obituary
Michael “Mike” David Marshall, 63 passed away unexpectedly at home on February 16, 2023 in Melissa, Texas. He was born in Dallas, Texas on December 4, 1959 to Gerald Ray & Barbara Joan Marshall. He loved the state of Texas, his Longhorns, Cowboys and all Tex-Mex food. Mike lived in various cities in and around the Dallas area his entire life.
Mike attended South Garland HS and earned his High School Diploma in 1977. After high school Mike followed in his father’s footsteps and got his insurance license. Mike worked in insurance sales for several years before going to work for Reebok where he grew quite the collection of tennis shoes and his Love of Sports Jerseys and t-shirts. Mike finally found his calling at KPMG in 1998 where he went on to enjoy a 21 year career where he worked tirelessly in HR as a Customer Service Specialist. He was known as the problem solver. He was dependable, relatable, compassionate, and dedicated to his job. He made many longtime friends at KPMG and made a difference in so many employees lives helping them with their claims.
Mike was an electric guitar enthusiast for 49 years. He Loved & Lived for classic rock, and had many a jam session with his friends over the years. His lifelong dream was to play professionally in a rock band, preferably Led Zepplin’s..LOL From an early age Mike’s father introduced him to his love of sports especially football, motorbikes, hunting, fishing, boating and his love of Lake Texoma. Mike loved the outdoors; All lakes, oceans, beachs, and a good pool party wherever he could find one. His friends say he was a free spirit. He never married, never had children, never bought a house, he was truly a Rolling Stone…Mike lived hard and fast. He did not care what people thought and had no problem telling you what was on his mind. He was stubborn, strong willed, lived his life on his own terms…yet Mike was kind, “he could be” patient when the situation called for it, he was a good listener, had quite the sense of humor, and he had a big caring heart. If you were lucky enough to know him he was a loyal friend. He would help anyone in need, and he cherished his friends deeply.
Mike retired early from KPMG in 2019 to stay home and tirelessly care for his beloved Delilah as she battled cancer for 2 years. Sadly she passed away in 2021. After retirement Mike bought himself his lifelong dream, a Harley Davidson motorcycle which he Loved So Much, he so enjoyed country road bike rides with friends. A Life well Lived, but far too short.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Ray Marshall; his Beloved mother, Barbara Joan Rozzell; and the love of his life, longtime partner Bobbie Ann “Delilah” Hamilton; who passed away in 2021.
