Michael W. McEuen's Obituary
Michael Wayne McEuen, 56, February 13, 2023
Our sweet Daddy became whole again on Monday, February, 13, 2023, leaving us at the young age of 56.
Michael was born on October 26, 1966 in Dallas, Texas to Arch Curlee McEuen and Patsy Ann Latham. He grew up and spent most of his life in the Dallas area, with family reaching to East Texas.
He married and divorced once to Mary McEuen and together they had three children, Michelle, April, and Daniela. Together, they spent their weekends at the Movie Trading Company, Dave & Busters, or enjoying a great meal (with dessert, because “there’s always room for dessert”). He especially cherished their family vacations to Disney World because in his soul he was always a big kid and thrill seeker, traits that he passed down to his children.
Professionally, Mike was a contractor – there wasn’t anything he couldn’t paint, drywall, or build with beautiful ease – but at heart, he was a rocker through and through and he jammed through life on the riffs of Van Halen, Kiss, and Motley Crue. He was a gifted self-taught guitar player and he always swore that one day we’d get the family band back together (we never had one but he assigned everyone an instrument anyway).
Mike was a staple in the Deep Ellum neighborhood and the city of Dallas acted like his own personal Cheers. Anywhere you went, he was surely to be met with a rousing hug or fist bump.
What Mike will truly be remembered for is his mischievous smile and the depth of his generous heart. Mike wasn’t the type to let someone go without, whether that be dinner, a home for the holidays, or a friend. If he had something to give, chances are he was already trying to share it or give it away. It didn’t matter who you were or where you were from, you instantly had a family in Michael McEuen. He was a provider and spoiled his little girls absolutely rotten, which gave him a pretty good kick as they got older. His smile and playful chuckle could lift any mood, and he was the type of man that made you feel like everything was going to be okay.
Mike was the cool guy that everyone wanted to be around, and this side of Heaven is darker without him. Mike’s family finds comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his brother Charlie and Heaven just got a whole lot louder.
Mike is survived by his daughters Michelle, April, and Daniela McEuen, and grandkids Ashley, Alex, and Luna. He is preceded in death by his brother Charlie, Aunt Faye, parents Arch and Patsy, and great grandchild JuJu.
A special thank you to his friend (and forever crush) Mary Jane Ellis for staying close with him and bringing him much needed hope and smiles over the years.
