Michael Joe Smallwood's Obituary
On Thursday, March 30, 2023, Michael “Joe” Smallwood of Mineola, TX, loving husband and father of seven children passed away at the age of 75.
He was born June 24,1947 to Ernest and Allie Ray in Garland, TX. He graduated from Garland High School in 1965. He worked in the oil field for over 40 years as a radiographer and spent much of those years in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. He loved fishing, building things, working outdoors, driving his tractor, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren. On March 3, 2011, Joe married Helen in Lindale, TX, and they built a life together in Mineola, TX. They were married for 22 years.
He is preceded in death by his father Ernest, his mother Allie Ray, his brothers, Harold, Billy Ray, and Ernest “Duane”, his sisters Dorothy, Ernestine, and Betty. He is survived by his wife Helen, his sisters Patricia Whiskur(Jim), Linda Dodd(Gene), June Summers, his seven children, Michael, Joe(Kathy), Robert Scott(Johnny Vasquez), April Leigh Harpole(Jeff), Dennis Holgers, Cariann Holgers(Jim Lemon), and Karla Stevenson(Pete), twelve grandchildren Barnaby, Ethan, Gunner, Gabriella, Jesus, Ray, Sean, Ellis, Layne, Blake, Brooke, and Jakob, two great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 4th at 10:00 am at the Restland Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243.
