Michael Todd Young's Obituary
Michael Todd Young was born to the late Ruben Young and Gail Dianne Young (Brooks) on February 2, 1967 in Columbus, Ohio. During his childhood, Todd and his family resided in Columbus & Akron, Ohio before moving to Tempe, Arizona. He attended Fees Junior High School where he first established himself as a standout athlete along with establishing numerous lifelong friendships. Todd attended Marcos de Niza High School (MdN) and graduated with the class of 1985. While attending MdN, he received numerous MVP awards for both basketball and football. He was most recently awarded the Number 3 “All-time Greatest Football Players” Award at MdN from the AZ Central Newspaper. He received a full-ride scholarship to Penn State University. While at Penn State, Todd played on the 1986 National Championship Team that defeated Miami in the Fiesta Bowl; and, graduated from Penn State in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Organizational Psychology. After his collegiate career, Todd went on to play professionally in the National Football League (NFL). He played two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs; and, later played for the San Francisco 49ers where he ended his NFL career due to a career ending knee injury. Besides being outgoing, Todd was fiercely loyal, the life of the party, a faithful friend, and an exceptional athlete that was also extremely musically inclined. He was an autodidact of the guitar. He received his first guitar when he was 5 years old. He could listen to a commercial or song one time and could instinctively replay it. The first song he ever played was Frankenstein by the Rock and Roll Band Edgar Winter Group. Although it looked like sports was his entire life, music played a huge part of who Todd was as well. Some of his favorite artists were Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Prince, George Benson, and Marvin Gaye. Todd was a successful Loan officer with Bank of America (BOA) where he received numerous awards from Sales Associate of the Month to the coveted Sales Associate of the Year. He worked for BOA from 2005 to 2015. Before God called him home, he ended his professional career with Carrington Mortgage where he quickly established more good authentic friendships. Todd leaves to cherish his memory, his siblings Tamara D. (Jim) Jeffcoat of Superior, Colorado, Guy A. (Estela) Young of Sandy Springs, Georgia, Nicole J. Young of Sugar Hill, Georgia. Todd was known as Uncle to his nephews and nieces; Jaren Jeffcoat, Jackson Jeffcoat, Jacqueline Jeffcoat, Jasmine Jeffcoat, Quinton Brooks (the Jeffcoats are his legal guardians), Beatriz Salvioli; two uncles Booker T. Brooks, Charles Tony Brooks, Annette (Edie) Lynch, and Beverly Rasberry-Stanford; and one Great Aunt Helen Conley. Living for the past 20 plus years in Dallas, Texas, Todd passed away Wednesday November 30, 2016 in his home. Todd will be remembered for his funny, sensitive, and strong spirit by a host of many relatives and numerous friends.
