Michelle Samuel's Obituary
On Tuesday, April 12, 1967, Charles Edward and Betty Jean Samuel were blessed with a beautiful baby girl
Michelle, in Chicago, Illinois. She was the eldest of two children born to this union.
Michelle accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and continued throughout her fife to seek a closer relationship with God. She was raised by her paternal grandmother in Church of Christ. At the age of 14, Michelle was baptized at Triedstone Baptist Church.
Michelle excelled academically, professionally and socially. She attended Melody Elementary School from grades 1-6 and finished her 7th and 8th grades at Rudyard Kipling. Michelle attended Chicago Vocational High School. She received a bachelorette degree from Governor's State University. Michelle was a true believer in working. At the age of 15 while in high school, she obtained her first job at McDonald's. After graduating from high school, Michelle was unsure of what she wanted to do at first. So, she worked as a telemarketer for a couple of months, one day at Army and Lou's Soul Food Restaurant (waitressing was not for her) and M&M Mars Candy Company with her father. Encouraged by her mother, April 24, 1989, Michelle became a part-time bus operator at the Chicago Transit Authority. During her course of working as a bus operator, Michelle realized she could develop a career that could expand her full potential. August 25, 1993, Michelle closed on her first of several rental properties. In. September 1998, she became a bus service supervisor. January 2004, Michelle was promoted to the position of transportation manager where she remained until she retired April 1, 2017. March 2018, Michelle left snowy, cold Chicago for sunny, hot Dallas. Michelle had a passion for indulging in what life had to offer. She enjoyed traveling, concerts, dancing and the finer things in life. Michelle traveled across the country, the Caribbean and Paris. Michelle valued and loved her relationships with her family and friends. She never forgot about her friends who were there for her during illness. They prayed for her and most importantly encouraged her in darkest hours. Before she retired from CTA, five of her girlfriends received a fur coat. Michelle was truly grateful for all that the Lord had done for her, therefore she was compelled to be a constant giver.
On Friday, December 9, 2022, the Lord in his infinite wisdom called Michelle home as her reward after dealing with years of sickness and illness.
Funeral arrangements for Michelle Samuel have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery.
