Mike Houston Murphy's Obituary
Born the youngest of four boys to Mr. and Mrs. T.S. (Pat) Murphy on May 24, 1933 in McKinney, TX and died October 23, 2008 in McKinney. Mike graduated from McKinney High School in 1951 and from North Texas State University in 1955. He married Martha Constance (Connie) Kraft on December 23, 1955. Mike was in the Marine Corps for 3 years, then went to work for Tenneco Oil Company as a Petroleum Landman. He moved his family to Dallas in August of 1977, where he worked for several oil and gas companies before retiring. Mr. and Mrs. Murphy were faithful members of Wilshire Baptist Church, where Mike served as a deacon. Mike is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 45 years, Connie Murphy. Mike is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Brandi Murphy of Irving; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Hal Harbor of McKinney; son and daughter-inlaw, John and Mary Beth Murphy of Southlake; 9 grandchildren, Jessica Murphy, Lauren Murphy, Lindsey Harbor, Ashley Harbor, Conner Harbor, Mackenzie Murphy, Jake Murphy, Madelyn Murphy, and Meredith Murphy; and sisters-in-law, LeAdrianne Murphy, Norma Murphy, and Mary Ann Kraft. Family will receive friends from 4-6pm, Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be at 1pm, Monday, October 27, 2008 at Wilshire Baptist Church in the chapel. Interment to follow in Restland Memorial Park. The family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Development Dept., 4144 N. Central Expwy., Suite 750, Dallas, TX 75204.
