Mildred Audrey Hansard's Obituary
Mildred Turner Hawkins Hansard (known as Millie) passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the age of 95. Millie was born Mildred Audrey Russell in Josephine, TX on Feb. 11, 1921 to parents Samuel and Molly Russell. She married her first love and high school sweetheart, Terry Turner, and together they had two sons – Terry Jr. and Tommy Joe. Millie weathered many storms in her fifties including the death of her husband and parents, but her faith, strength and acceptance carried her forward to lead an abundant and fulfilling life. She married Bob Hawkins and they remained together for 18 years until Bob passed away. Carrying on with her zeal for love of life, Millie married Ford Hansard, the husband of an old friend who had also passed away. Without fear of the losses associated with her life, she again gave her love and soul tirelessly. Millie was a compassionate woman whose soul and commitment to family touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She gave of herself without regard for herself. She will be surely missed by her children, Terry, Jr. and Tommy, and her step children, Lynn Henkel, Julie Iven, David Hawkins and Clay Hansard, daughter-in-law’s Linda Turner and Randi Turner, and all of her grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is survived by one brother, the last of 10 children. Millie’s death was preceded by her husband Ford’s in December 2016. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, January 13, 2017 at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Mildred Hansard will be held at 12:30 PM, Saturday, January 14, 2017 in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
