Mildred Irene Barber's Obituary
Mildred Irene (McCool) Barber, longtime Lewisville, TX resident, passed away April 11, 2016 at Lewisville Estates in Lewisville, TX. She was born April 24, 1924 in Paris, TX to James McCool and Quincy Taylor. Mildred raised two boys in Choctaw, OK. She was always working, as a hair dresser in her own shop and as an alterations seamstress for JC Penney. Mildred loved to sew; making curtains for her home and altering clothing for her, family and friends. She worked for her son at Premier Gallery in Flower Mound, TX for 35 years where she made many friends. With her sewing talent, she would carefully mount all the cross-stitch and embroidery items that were brought in for framing. Mildred loved music and enjoyed playing the piano, gospel music was her favorite. You would hear her humming or singing anytime there was music playing. You never heard Mildred say unkind words about anyone; she truly was an example of Christianity. She was also a member of Lakeland Baptist Church, Lewisville, TX. She is survived by her sister, Joann Carpenter and husband Bill of Duncanville, TX; son Bill Barber, and his wife Susan of Norman, OK; four grandchildren Eric Holsapple, Melissa Jaster, Julie Callahan, and Bryan Barber; four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father James McCool; mother Quincy (Taylor) McCool; husband John E. Barber, of 59 years; son, Don Barber, two brothers, Ed McCool and Billy McCool and one sister, Pauline Perry. Services are pending at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted into Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park. 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
