She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Robert “Bob” Leftwich Bondurant; parents, James and Georgia Stone of Weslaco, Texas and brothers and sister, “Buck” Weaver, Jack Stone, James Stone and Nadine Hackney. Millie was born August 23, 1915 in Ft. Worth, but the family moved to Weslaco,Texas, as the Rio Grande Valley was emerging. She graduated from Weslaco High and Draughns Business College and worked various retail organizations In The Valley in the area of accounting and finance. Millie became a civil service employee and worked at several air bases, including Manila, Philippines, where she was head of civilian personnel. Shortly after the end of WWII, she met a pilot, Bob, when the “fly boy” came into the officers club where she was having dinner. It was love at first sight and remained for their entire lives. They married and raised a family in Weslaco and worked together in the family grocery business. In 1977, they relocated to Dallas and quickly became active in the founding and development of Prestonwood Baptist Church. Millie was proud to serve on the pastor’s search committee that recommended Dr. Jack Graham, the senior pastor today. Millie lived her life involved in her Agape Sunday School Class at Prestonwood. She had a sweet spirit and warm spot for those less fortunate. Most of all, she loved her Lord Jesus Christ. Her favorite saying was: “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of The Lord.” The Bondurant family thanks her hospice caregivers: Carolyn, Mike, Vivian, Kim, and Mary. Also, special thanks to dear friends Gilbert and Frances McCombs and Penny Manley. Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home, Abbey Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Odessa Life Center, 802 Washington, Odessa, Texas 79761 or Prestonwood Baptist Church.
