Mildred Ann Denham's Obituary
Mildred Ann Schwecke Denham was born on August 4, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away on January 20, 2019 in Plano, Texas. Millie was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Clyde Denham and her parents, Alfred and Martha Schwecke. Millie attended high school in Chicago and worked as a secretary after graduation. She and a girlfriend attended a party in Wisconsin where she met Clyde who was serving in the Air Force. After a 6 month courtship, the two were married in 1954 in Chicago. They moved to Lubbock, Texas where Millie worked to support Clyde as he attended Texas Tech University. In 1957 after graduation, the couple moved to Richardson, Texas where Millie worked in banking. In 1960, Millie became a stay at home Mom raising the first of three daughters. She was involved in the babysitting club, garden club, bridge club and participated in numerous other clubs and activities. She enjoyed playing tennis and made many friends at Canyon Creek Country Club. As her children grew up, Millie went back to work as a magazine rep for Kable News Company. She also volunteered at Network Community Ministries for many years. Millie loved being a Grammie and supported her grandchildren by attending all of their activities. Millie enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, gardening and bird watching. She loved nature, wildlife, the national parks and flowers. The Dallas Arboretum was one of her favorite places to visit. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richardson for 62 years. Millie had so many friends including the teatime ladies who met every Friday afternoon for years, her bridge and pool friends and her friends at the Conservatory where she lived for the last two years. She was loved by her family and will be missed more than words can express. Millie is survived by: three daughters, Allison Doyle, Leslie Mitchell and Susan Whitehead; sons-in-law, David Doyle, Albert Mitchell and Rich Whitehead; grandchildren, Natalie and Harrison Fisher, Ryan, Connor and Megan Doyle, Cassidy and Dillon Whitehead; brother, Alfred Schwecke and wife, Beverly; sisters in law, Lois McCarson, Gelika Denham, Hilda Denham and Peggy Bibb and husband, Jerry as well as many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Restland Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 1, 2019 in the main Sanctuary at First United Methodist Church, 503 North Central Expressway, Richardson, Texas.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Network of Community Ministries, Richardson or First United Methodist Church, Richardson.
