Mildred L. Hodges' Obituary
Hodges, Mildred L. Hodges, Mildred Inez, age 93, of Garland, Texas passed away peacefully on Oct 27, 2010, at Garland, TX surrounded by her family. She was born on May 30, 1917 in Ladonia, Texas. Mildred was one of six siblings. She married Frank Hodges in Rockwall, TX, on Sept 03, 1938. They had four children. She was a longtime resident of Garland, Texas and member of First Baptist Church of Garland. She enjoyed needle crafts, jigsaw puzzles, word games, watching sports and spending time with her friends and family. Mildred will be remembered by her children Sharon and husband Jerry Jenkins, Vickie and husband Terry Roe, Phyllis and husband Kent Lane, and DeWayne and wife Denece Hodges. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, one sister, Andalyne Davis, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a wide circle of friends. She was predeceased by her husband Frank. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation for Mildred at 6:30 PM on Friday, October, 29th at Restland. A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Garland on Saturday, October 30th at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery. The family is grateful for the loving and tender care Mildred received in her last days by her physicians, many caregivers at Presbyterian Hospital (Dallas), Walnut Place, Mayberry Gardens, and the wonderful nurses and staff of VITAS Hospice. Words cannot describe the comfort, support and ministry they and Mildred’s friends provided to Mildred and her family during this difficult time. “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!'” Matthew 25:40.
