Mildred Hill Sharpe's Obituary
Grandma Millie passed away peacefully August 10, 2008 with those that love her at her side. Millie was born in Benson, Louisiana in 1918 and moved to Dallas at the age of 17. She met the love of her life; Edwin Lee Sharpe in 1939 and together they embarked upon one of the greatest journeys that was pure magic and was full of love, laughter and service. After 49 years of marriage, he proceeded her in death. “Grandpa Eddie” introduced Millie to The Order of the Eastern Star and together they changed the lives of thousands by mentoring, coaching and enriching those lives as they traveled the State of Texas, The United States and the world. Millie was a 61 year member of Dal- Cliff Chapter and in 1967 served as Worthy Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of Texas, Order of the Eastern Star. Millie was also a longtime member of the Dallas Woman’s Forum. Millie will always be remembered for her smile, grace and unconditional love. She is survived by a daughter and brother. There are also 5 grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and hundreds of friends. Also celebrating her life is her beloved grandson, Thomas Edwin Malin. Millie and Ed took Tom into their home at an early age and raised him as their own son. Granny, you saved my life and gave me a life. I thank God every day that you taught me about unconditional love, and helped me become a man of character, honor and integrity. What a joy, pleasure and extreme honor that God put us together and I thank you that you trusted me. I am the man I am today because of you. I celebrate your life. Job well done old friend!
