Mildred Elizabeth Vanderslice's Obituary
born April 24, 1916 in Gatesville, TX. Passed away January 11, 2008 into the arms of Our Father in Heaven. She was a member of Skillman Bible Church and had many friends there. She had a strong Christian faith in God to her children. She taught Vacation Bible School to children at Gaston Avenue Baptist Church. She had many interests in life especially rearing her children and grandchildren. She loved children, friends (of whom she had many), was an avid reader, flower and vegetable gardening, sewing and appliqueing quilts by hand, crafting and made sure her children experienced every Christmas parade in their youths. She never drove but walked everywhere she went. She was a speed walker with a child’s hand always in tow. She had a unique contagious laugh that typified her spirit. She was a positive person who loved a good joke. She made Christmas a wonderland for her children and grandchildren; this was her favorite holiday. She helped everyone she knew and was loved by everyone she knew and was loved by everyone she touched. She is survived by four children, Marilyn Pearson and husband Perry of Dallas, TX, Analee (Sam) Dickey and husband Virgil of Kirbyville, MO, Veskar Zinn and wife Nan of Tucson, AZ, Stephen Vanderslice and wife Linda of Petty, TX. Also, one sister Doris Stevens of Grass Valley CA, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William Isaac (Bill), three brothers, Raymond, William Peter (Dub) and Robert Stockmier, also two grandsons Benjamin Vanderslice and Richard Stanfield and her parents, William P. and Anna G. Stockmier. She loved and was beloved of her sister-in-laws, Pat Rheinfeldt, Elsie Warden, Faye Stockmier (deceased); and Tom Stevens, her brother-in-law (deceased). She loved and was idealized by her nieces and nephews, Jo (Ann) Young, Robin Collins, Pat Stevens, Barry Stockmier, Jean Stockmier and Joan (deceased). Also especially close from birth is Ethan Saldivar. Her “raised” grandchildren are: Rebecca Cross and Jeremiah Pearson, Tammy Bowling, Richard Stanfield (deceased), Dennie Alman, Benjamin Vanderslice (deceased) and Matthew Vanderslice, Rachel Zinn, Sarah Zinn, Tziporah Zinn, and Naomi Zinn. May she rest in the Lord’s arms. She gave her time to her parents and all the children showing us that she was the epitome of LOVE!! Final Draft 1/25/08 mkp
