Mildred Lorene Wahlquist's Obituary
Mildred Lorene Wahlquist passed quietly away on September 20, 2019 at the age of 105. She was born on March 17, 1914 to May and James Pope in Hackett, Arkansas. She was the 5th of 6 daughters. She grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas where she went to school and completed her education. Mildred was married to Roscoe R. Robinson in 1932 and they moved to Dallas, Texas and were blessed with two children, Betty Jane and James Walter. That marriage ended in 1949.She went to beautician school and worked as a manicurist at the Adolphus Hotel. She was married to O.R. (Chick) McElya, who was a civil engineer for 31 years. During that time she sold real estate and also owned a health food store for 15 years. That marriage ended with his passing. Three years later she married Kenneth Wahlquist II of Dallas, Texas. Kenneth worked for Lockheed Martin Corporation and they lived in California and Taiwan while he was employed with them. After retirement they moved back to Texas to be near their children and families and settled in Rhome, Texas. They were married 18 years when he passed away.Mildred is survived by her daughter Betty Wahlquist, son, James (Joann) Robinson; grandchildren, Ben Wahlquist, Roger (Laura) Wahlquist; great grandchildren, Phylicia, Colton, Adrienne, and Hannah; step-grandchildren, Gregory (Grace) Canfield, Jeff (Lora) Canfield, Susan (Ronnie) Phillips, Jack Canfield, and Mike (Rhonda) Canfield; stepsons, Ray Wahlquist and Kenneth Wahlquist III. In addition she has several step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.She was a life-time member of the Church of Christ and belonged to the Waterview Church of Christ where service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 23, 2019. The address is 1409 N. Waterview in Richardson, Texas.Visitation will be on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home.
