Mildred Otelia Wells' Obituary
Mildred was born Sept. 25, 1921 to William and Hulda Kettler in a small family community in Bosque County. At the age of 16, she went to work in Dallas to help her widowed mother support her three younger siblings. There she met and married Wesley Wells and for 58 years they made a happy life together. Mildred worked as a bookkeeper but her true love was her church Cockrell Hill UMC. She served as finance chairman for many years and was a lifetime member of WSCS. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 8, 2016 and is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; her grandson, Gavin Davis; her brothers, Leon and Monroe Kettler and her sister, Lela Johnson. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Shelton and Linda Nelson; six grandchildren, Kimberly Nelson, Blair Nelson, Sarah Shelton, Greg Davis, Chris Thomsen, and Leslie Youmans; great-grandchildren, Parker Nelson, Morgan Cox, Cydnee Inmon, Onyx Leonforte Grayce Davis, Wes Gambs and Luke Gambs. Services for Mildred Wells will be held at 5:00 PM, Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Cockrell Hill UMC with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. Memorial contributations may be made to Cockrell Hill UMC at 4301 W. Clarendon Drive, Dallas, TX 75211.
