Milton Edward Chandler's Obituary
Milton Edward Chandler passed away at Presbyterian Village North Skilled Nursing Center on June 15th, 2024, with his wife faithful and loving wife, Jeanie by his side. Milton AKA Mickey was born January 19th,1937 to parents Mitt and Grace Bennett Chandler. Mickey loved his childhood on Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga Tennessee, and graduated from the Baylor Military Academy, now The Baylor School, in 1955. Mickey attended Auburn University and served in the National Guard for 6 years. After his education and military service, he married Susan Overmyer and had three children, daughters Laura and Grace and son Ward. The family moved to Dallas where he and Susan made many lifelong friends.
Mickey worked for Coca Cola, then Hudson and Hudson and then became an Independent Commercial Real Estate Broker up until last year when he negotiated his last real estate deal. Mickey's main talent in life was making friends and maintaining friendships -A true and loyal friend to many. In 2009 Mickey and his dear friends Bobby McMillian and the late great Joe Oscar Neuhoff started a once-a-month lunch bunch naming it Alley Cats. At one time they had 24 members, and the group just celebrated their 15-year anniversary.
During Mickey's illness this past spring he so appreciated phone calls. Emails, texts and even cards from his many friends. Mickey, a Man of Faith faced cancer with courage and said over and over I know where I am going.
Mickey is survived by his wife of 23 years Jeanie Meador Chandler. Daughters Grace Cartwright (Keith), Laura McElroy (Tommy) and son Ward. Also, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A special Thank You to Ward and Grandson Walker for the many phone calls and visits which meant the world to Mickey. Also thank you to Presbyterian Village North skilled nursing for their kind care of Mickey and to the Grace Presbyterian Hospice. .
Mickey will remain in the hearts of those who loved a salty old dog with a heart of gold. A celebration of Mickey's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers Mickey, the Dog lover, chose the Friends of Dallas Animal Services, 2911 Turtle Creek Blvd Dallas TX 75219 or the charity of your choice.
