Milton (Bill Henderson Craven Jr.'s Obituary
Born in Big Spring, TX on 4/28/24 to Milton Sr. and Maude West, died 10/28/07. Lived there until he went into U.S. Army Air Corp upon graduation from high school in 1942. He was a B-17 Pilot serving with the 379th Bomb Group in England, Iceland and numerous cities in the US during WWII, reaching the rank of Captain in the reserves and receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal,3 Oak Leaf Clusters, European Theatre Medal, Presidential Unit Citation and flying 31 missions. He worked for several companies before establishing his own business in 1973, Craven Associates, Inc. a manufacturer’s Representative Firm selling to oil and gas pipeline companies, before his retirement in 1994. Bill was a member of the Lakeside Baptist Church & Dallas Genealogical Society & several bridge groups; a past member and President of NE Texas Gas Measurement Society (Dallas) past member of Gulf Coast Gas Assoc, (Houston); Instrument Society of America; Gild of Ancient supplier; Soaring Adventures, Inc. He is survived by his wife Gladys, who he married in 1950, daughter Deborah Hayes and her husband Mark and sons Tyler and Colton, and son Gary Craven and his wife Jeanmarie and sons Sam, Kyle and Matthew, along with his sister Betty Smith and brother Roy Cravens and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The service will be held at Restland at 10 am on Thursday, November 1st, with viewing on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm. Any donations to be made to Lakeside Baptist Church.
