Milton Chris Kentes' Obituary
Milton Chris Kentes passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on February 13, 2018 in Dallas, Texas surrounded by his wife and daughters. Milton was born on February 19, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri to Bessie and Chris Kentes. He married Dena Pantelis on May 1, 1960 and was a devoted husband, affectionate father, and adoring grandfather.Milton proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was a clinical psychologist in Granite City, Illinois and later became a school psychologist working for LaGrange Area Department of Special Education. He also had a private practice at home where he treated patients with a variety of mental health conditions.He had a genuine and loving heart, which made him a special friend to all who knew him. Milton loved to play many sports, including tennis, where many young players tried to beat him, but no one was victorious! He also had a passion for volleyball, table tennis, and softball. His family remembers his competitive spirit even towards winning board games—but always in a fun-loving manner. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to tell jokes, and truly enjoyed making people laugh.He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dena Kentes, his daughters Joanna Kentes Spahis and Cristina Kentes Pashos, son-in-law Mike Spahis, grandchildren Stephanie and Christopher Spahis and Anna Pashos, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.The Trisagion service is scheduled for Thursday, February 15th at 7:00 PM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas 75240. The funeral will be held on Friday, February 16th at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity. The services will be officiated by Fr. Peter Kostakis and other clergy. Guest chanter will be Milton’s nephew, John Fotopoulos of Munster, Indiana.The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Apostles Philoptochos Society (meaning: friends of the poor) at 2501 S. Wolf Road, Westchester, IL 60154 or Holy Trinity St. Barbara Philoptochos at 13555 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, Texas 75240.The family would like to extend their gratitude for all your love, prayers, and support now and throughout the years.
