Milton M. Mapes' Obituary
Milton Monroe Mapes, born August 25, 1921, passed away on August 10, 2011. He was raised in Balinger, Texas to Harrison and Daisy Thompson Mapes. He was a proud WWII U.S. Marine Veteran, having served in the Battle of Guadalcanal. Returning from the war, he married Patsy Ruth East. They recently celebrated their 67th anniversary. As an electrician, his career included owning M&M Electronics in Snyder, TX. He also managed for Electrolux Corp. in Lubbock and Ft. Worth. He loved gardening and repairing any gadget or appliance. More than anything, he loved his family. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Mapes; brother, Royce Mapes and his wife Marcille; four children, Deana Mae Cooper and her husband Charles, of Snyder, TX, Milton Mapes, Jr. and his wife Judy, of Tucson, AZ, Grace Ann Vanderpool and her husband Travis, of Georgetown, TX, and Catherine Dee Bjorklund and her husband Richard, of Frisco, TX; Grandchildren include, Chuck Cooper, Cindy Crawford, Charman Gonzalez, CeCe Kern, Tricia Cooper, Gretchen Vanderpool, Jason Cooper, Kim Madden, Greg Vanderpool, Kelly Head, Tracy Walden, and Merissa Fazio; “Pa” was also blessed with many great-great-grandchildren. His faith in Jesus was strong to the end. His humor and giving spirit will be missed. Visitation will be Friday, August 12 at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A family graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m. A Memorial Celebration of his life will be Saturday, August 13 at 3:00 p.m. at Christ Church in Plano. Paul-bearers include Jay Madden, Scott Head, Michael Walden, and Mike Fazio.
