Mina Rose Knippel's Obituary
Mina Rose Thomas Knippel, of Lord, Friday, May 11th. Mina was born on January 16, 1929 in Lincoln County, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Thomas, Sr. In addition to her parents and grandparents, Mina was predeceased by her husband, Harry E. Knippel, her two brothers, and by her six sisters. Mina is survived by a warm and loving family and a host of friends. Mina was a long-time member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Crisswell Bible Class for thirty plus years and only in recent months had declining health prevented her from regularly attending for worship and Bible study. One of her greatest joys was sharing her love for Christ with others. Mina graduated from Star City High School in Arkansas, and went on to study accounting at Dallas School of Business. Her career began under the employment of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She worked for many years as the officer in control of finance and accounting for the Lee-Emmert Construction Company. After her time with Lee-Emmert she worked for Cole Patterson’s Accounting Firm, and then became the Comptroller for GDMI Inc. After her retirement from GDMI, Mina continued to work in the accounting field from her home for several accounting firms. This passion that she felt for her work and helping others never waned. Mina had the great fortune of becoming involved with the Dallas Chapter Two of the National Association for Women in Construction where she served as an officer. Through her membership with this organization, she worked to help better and grow the group, while making several life-long friendships that she would cherish for the rest of her days. Mina and Harry loved Texas and demonstrated Southern hospitality to the utmost by happily opening their home through the decades to unending guests – overnight, weeklong, or perhaps for a few months to finish a college term or relocation. This gracious welcome often was extended to a parade of dogs that basked in an endless supply of love and attention. Mina’s final canine friend was a loving girl named Little Bit. Little Bit was Mina’s constant companion for the last ten years; the two were each devoted to the other. Memorials can be made to Community Hospice of Texas at 1341 W. Mockingbird Lane, Suite 210 East, Dallas, TX 72747 Society. or The Humane
