Chan, Minh Hua's Obituary
IN LOVING MEMORY Minh Chan Hua July 24, 1945 – March 20, 2026 Minh Chan Hua passed away on March 20, 2026 at the age of 80.
He was a man of quiet strength who never let hardship dim his love for life - someone who could carry heavy things without complaint - and still be the first one singing at karaoke. Born in the seaside town of Ha Tien in Vietnam, Minh's journey eventually brought him and his family to California and later to Texas, where he truly made his home. He and his wife (Tam Nguyen) built a life here from the ground up – starting a grocery business that became a point of family pride. He worked hard, but he also knew how to live. That balance was part of what made him easy to love.
After losing his wife, Minh carried on with quiet determination - doing his best to hold the family together and never miss the moments that mattered. Birthdays, graduations, the big occasions and the small ones — he showed up. Minh had a real talent in the kitchen. He cooked Vietnamese food the way it was meant to be made - with patience and heart. Food was his love language. Outside the kitchen, you might find him fishing, out with friends, or singing his favorite songs at karaoke. He loved good company and, for much of his life, a cold beer to go along with it. Later in life, he found a steady and loving companion (Binh Vuong) who stood by his side for over two decades. She brought him comfort, stability, and joy — and her children became family too, embracing him with open arms and keeping their promise to care for him until the very end.
In his final chapter, he discovered a new favorite: sashimi. Whenever his daughter came to visit and he was feeling well enough, the family would take him out for a sushi dinner — a simple outing that brought together the things he cherished in life – family, togetherness, hamachi, toro and uni. Those meals together, unhurried and full of love, were some of his happiest moments near the end. Guided by his personal faith and philosophy, Minh faced the entirety of life - the hardships, the joys, the disappointments, the surprises - with quiet strength and a warm spirit. He is deeply missed and dearly loved. He is survived by his sons (Quang Hua & Luan Hua), his daughter (MaiKhoi Hua), and two grandsons (Kenny Hua & Cole King-Sidney) whose hugs meant the world to him.
He is also lovingly remembered by his stepson (Ken Vuong) and stepdaughter (Mandy Brima), who were family in every sense of the word. May he rest in peace.
