Minnie Joyce Johnson's Obituary
Minnie Joyce Johnson, a long time resident of Mesquite, Texas passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at the age of 100.
Joyce was born June 22d 1925 in Dike, Texas to mother, Myrtle Mae Fergerson Lawrence, and father, Robert Lemuel Lawrence. She was married to R.
George Johnson Jr. on January 14" 1950. She was a long time employee at East Texas Motor Freight where she retired after over 30 years of service. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother of 2, grandmother, great-grandmother AND great-great-grandmother.
Joyce enjoyed travelling when she was able. She also enjoyed frequent visits to the casino where she would put others to shame with her winnings. More than anything, she loved and cherished visits and time spent with her family, especially all the grandchildren.
Joyce is preceded in death by her loving husband, R. George Johnson Jr; mother Myrtle Mae Fergerson Lawrence; father Robert Lemuel Lawrence; daughter Linda Joyce Johnson Calhoun; sisters Pearl & Hildred Lawrence, Ruth Chapman, Maudie Stewart, Iva Johnson, & Mary Rawson; brothers Witt, Eli, Dave, Wilbur & Robert Lawrence.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Jimmy Criss Smith and wife Helen; sister Georgia Smith; granddaughter Crissty Smith Williams; great- granddaughters Chandler Mason & husband Cody, Kyleigh McAfee & husband Austin, & Bryndal Williams; as well as 4 great-great- grandchildren.
Her family rejoices in knowing that she is once again in the arms of her
husband and was met at the gates of heaven by our Lord and Savior.
