Minnie Jane Mitchell's Obituary
Minnie Jane Jordan Mitchell was born on June 19, 1916. She went to be with her husband of 44 years, William Mitchell, on November 20th, 2017.Minnie was a devout Christian who lived a peaceful and quiet life as commanded by her Lord (1 Tim 2:2). Because of WW2, she had to wait for God to arrange the meeting with her prince, a WW2 veteran. When she married, she sold her business and became a devoted house wife. She raised three children, all of whom were eventually baptized.Minnie’s deep devotion to her husband was widely known and her greatest joy was when her husband was baptized after many years of attending church with her. Bill was baptized by Harold Paden at the Skillman Avenue Church of Christ. Another great joy Minnie witnessed was the baptism of her son-in-law Larry Pierson shortly after her youngest daughter Judy married him.Her favorite pastime was fishing, a sport she learned from her husband. After her husband’s death she went to live with her daughter, Jane Haines, in Missouri, and spent a great deal of time fishing there. At age 95, she won a fishing contest with the minister from Jane’s church. She also enjoyed gardening and a huge rose garden. Minnie was very knowledgeable in the various varieties of roses and knew what each type of rose in her garden was.Minnie is survived by her three children, Jane Haines of Mobile, Alabama, Judy Pierson of Dallas, Texas, and Billy Mitchell of Nashville, Tennessee. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild.Sometime after Jane’s husband Joey retired, they moved to Mobile, Alabama to be closer to Jane and Joey’s son and his family, where she spent the rest of her days.A funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM Friday, December 22, 2017 at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Cemetery.
