Minor Howard Nickens' Obituary
NICKENS, MINOR HOWARD left this earthly life on the morning of July 30, 2014 for a far better one in Heaven. Minor was born on May 5, 1922 to William Hillen and Ethel Mae Minor Nickens in Garland, TX. He married Shirley Tucker Clay on October 13,1979 in Conway, AR. Minor was a Navy Veteran serving in WWII on the U.S.S. Lexington. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross among his accomplishments. He was a retired U.S. Postal Service mail carrier-delivering mail on the last remaining rural route in Dallas County for many years. He is survived by four step-children, Lynnette (Paul) Cates, Richard Clay, Robert Clay and Randy (Kathy) Clay; 9 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, sister, Martha Francis Daniel, 3 nephews–Dave and Mike Daniel, Lowell Nickens, and 1 niece, Bonny Nickens. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, William Murray Nickens, and his sister, Annelle Davis. Minor was a member of the Lord’s body at the Campbell Road Church of Christ in Garland. A viewing will be held on August 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM followed by services at 11 :00 AM at Campbell Road Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your church or the Christian Care Center (Mesquite, TX) in Minor’s name.
