Mirdza Laivins' Obituary
Mirdza Laivins passed away on June 6, 2010. She was born on March 23, 1923 in Riga, Latvia. Through sponsorship by Christ Lutheran Church Dallas and support of Dallas Association of the Deaf she immigrated as a DP (Displaced Person) with her husband Eduards and two sons to the United States in 1951 and became a naturalized citizen in 1957. She is survived by her two sons Juris Laivins and his wife Carolyn of Dallas, TX and Uldis Jack Laivins of Carrollton, TX; two grand children, Larisa Rene Laivins of Los Angeles, CA and Andris Wayne Laivins of Austin, TX. Funeral service will be on Monday, June 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM in Memorial Chapel at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. A graveside service will follow. Visitation is 3-5 Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church Dallas, the Deaf Action Center, Dallas, TX, or Highland Oaks Church of Christ.
