Miriam S. Kindred's Obituary
Beloved mother, grandmother and loyal friend passed away on September 30, 2015 after a long battle of many illnesses. She was born into a family of five on February 18, 1931 in Huron, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Ruth Stephens, her siblings, Richard Stephens, Norton Stephens and Jeanette Gettys. Also her husband, Guy Kindred and three sons, Stephen, Byron and Gary Kindred. Miriam is survived by her brother, Ken Stephens and his wife, Myrt, of Des Moines, IA., her daughter, Valli Kindred of Dallas, TX., granddaughters, Sara Kindred of McKinney, TX., and Stephanie Riggs of Missouri City, TX., and her daughter-in-law Mary Kindred of Frisco, TX. She will also be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and their family members whom she mentored throughout their lives. In 1961 she married Guy Ben Kindred, M.D. Guy who had three small boys and Miriam with her small daughter, blended their families. When Guy joined the Medical Center Group in Plainview, TX., Miriam started her financial career in town. After moving to Dallas, she went on to become a Vice President and first Woman manager for E. F. Hutton and then later for Smith Barney. Her career in the financial industry spanned over forty years during which time Miriam deepened many of her client relationships into personal friendships. When she retired she passed those relationships onto her daughter, Valli, who still has those today. Her greatest joy in life was helping and mentoring others. Miriam touched the lives of so many people emotionally, spiritually and financially. In retirement she continued her commitment to giving back by working with her Alma Mater Cottey College of Nevada, MO. By serving on their board and helping with their fundraising projects. The Kindred family would like to especially thank, Dr. John Hughes for his love and commitment in taking care of Miriam over the years of her illness. The Kindred family and friends will gather from 5:00 p.m. To 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4th. at Restland Funeral Home for visitation. Followed on Monday, October 5th at 11:00 a.m. a service will be at Restland’s Memorial Chapel. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to U.T. Southwestern for Brain Tumor Research or Pulmonary Research or Cottey College.
