Miriam Marion Vella's Obituary
Our precious mother, Miriam Rita Maxine Vella, age 93, stepped into heaven on Thursday, October 6th 2022 in Rockwall, TX. She was born to Morris and Rose (Nilva) Pollack on Sunday, October 14th 1928 in Queens, NY. She lived a wonderful full life with nothing stopping her. Her greatest enjoyments were cooking and throwing parties for her family, watching Gunsmoke, indulging in sweets, and playing Bingo.
Miriam moved from New York to Texas in 1959. She worked at Texas Instruments for several years, went to barber school, owned a pool hall called Marion’s Place on Greenville Avenue, was caretaker for the elderly, and sold life insurance in her later years. She loved to cut men’s hair for free at the Senior Activity Center in Garland.
Miriam leaves her loved ones with unforgettable memories and funny stories. She was loved and cherished by many and will be sincerely missed by her loving family and all the wonderful individuals who knew and adored her.
She is preceded in death by her son Mark Steven Vella, her parents and five siblings.
Miriam is lovingly survived by her son Joseph S. Vella Jr. of Dallas, TX; daughter Lillian J. Durbin of Garland, TX; and daughter and son-in-law Janice (Vella) Ince and Steven Ince of Lavon, TX.
Eleven Grandchildren: Tracey Vella, Misty Campos, Brooke Bodziony, Jessica White, Ryan Vella, Stephanie Damron, Philip Damron, Allison Ince, Elliott Ince, Nad Vella, Grace Vella, and five great grandchildren: Emory Vella, James Bodziony, Jocelyn Bodziony, Elianna Ince, Olivia Campos, and many nephews and nieces.
There will be a private mausoleum graveside ceremony pending.
