Mittie Jean Pratt Ballard's Obituary
Mittie Pratt Ballard passed away Dec. 31, 2025. She was 98 years old.
Mittie was born April 13, 1927 in Abilene, TX to Zadie Jackson Pratt and William C. Pratt.
Mittie was the tenth of twelve siblings growing up on a farm in Seminole, TX. Her family later moved to Mineral Wells, TX where she graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1945. Her life-long love of sports–especially baseball–began here, where she played catcher for the HS Softball team.
Inspired to service by the war effort, Mittie continued her education at St. Paul’s Hospital School of Nursing in Dallas, TX. She had a long, successful career in nursing, retiring from pediatrics in the 1990s.
She loved her children, Crysta and Don; son-in-law Richard; daughter-in-law Juli; two grandchildren, Katie and Rebecca; and two great-grandchildren, Garrett and Sloane. Mittie had many nieces, nephews, and friends. She loved them all.
Mittie will be remembered as a sports fanatic, devoted nurse, and especially for her feisty spirit.
A reception will be held on Monday, Jan. 19th at 10:30 AM at Restland Event Center. 9220 Restland Rd., Dallas, TX 75243.
