Monica Estelle Yates' Obituary
Monica Estelle Yates, 48, of Van Alstyne, Texas, joined her Savior on Saturday, April 22, 2023,
due to complications from liver disease. Monica was born to Harold Dale Pitts and Sheila Jo
Songer Pitts on October 01, 1974, in Seminole, Texas.
Monica is preceded in death by her sisters, Shonnie Dayle Bryan and Jennifer Jo Pitts. She is
survived by her beloved husband Dennis Ray Yates; her parents, Harold and Sheila Pitts;
daughter Brianna Joy Schmitz and son-in-law Joel; son Caleb Dale Ray Yates; grandson Hollis
Ryan Schmitz; nieces Shaila Thomison, Jewel Tamez, Jazzlyn Tamez, Jenica Tamez, Camri
Richey and Summer Edwards; nephews Jarrett Long and Dillon Yates; great niece Camberliegh
Elder; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Monica married Dennis on July 01, 1994. They lived a beautiful country life together, and
eventually raised two children, who grew to love the same small-town connections shared with
their parents. Their home was extended to others, throughout the years, and was filled with
love and laughter and blessings, despite tragedies they had to overcome. Monica’s love of
reading, crime shows, Mexican food, and sherbert are a few things that have been passed down
to the children in her life.
Monica will forever be remembered as a loving wife, caring daughter, kindhearted aunt “Taty,”,
but most of all for being the most tender and generous mother to Bree and Caleb, and doting
“Lolli” to her grandson Hollis. Monica was more than a compassionate friend; she was a
selfless caregiver to many, and put so many others’ needs ahead of hers. Monica not only
loved with her whole heart, but prayed with her entire being. She will be forever missed by
everyone touched by her generosity and beautiful soul.
Services are being arranged by the Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas,
TX, 75243, and will be held at the Memorial Chapel on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at 2:00 P.M.
As Monica’s family and friends mourn the loss of her physical body, be reminded of the
following: “Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.”
