Monroe was born in Waldron, Arkansas, on May 5, 1943, to Monroe J. and Darlean McDaniel, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Mark McDaniel, a loss that Monroe carried with him always.
Monroe was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country honorably. His time in service was just one part of his dedication to giving back—whether through his career or in his community.
He was an advocate for education, both as a teacher and a mentor. He grew up with a strong sense of family and education that would stay with him throughout his life. He was not only dedicated to helping children learn but also to inspiring fellow educators. Monroe was passionate about teaching, and his impact extended beyond the classroom, influencing countless students and colleagues alike.
In his personal life, Monroe was a devoted husband to his wife, Nadine McDaniel, an amazing brother to Carolyn McDaniel, and a loving father to his daughters, Marcie Zinger and Michelle McDaniel, and his step-daughter, Allison Malley. He was also a proud father-in-law to Chris Zinger and grandson-in-law Gregory Uhrich. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Tanya Uhrich, Shane Finn, Zofia and Asher Zinger, William and Hosea Malley, and his great-grandchildren, Brianna and Ethan Farley, Madison Vincent, Freya and John Uhrich, and great-great-grandchildren, Soriah and Amirah. His love for them was boundless, and he could always be counted on to show up—whether it was for a family gathering, a choir performance, or a play.
Monroe had a true passion for photography and videography, always seen with a camera or camcorder in hand. He loved capturing precious moments with his family, especially at his grandchildren’s school performances and plays. His creative eye allowed him to create timeless memories for his loved ones, and his videos and photos will be cherished by his family for years to come.
He was also a dedicated and active Christian. Monroe’s faith in God was central to who he was. He was an active member of his church and lived his life with integrity, kindness, and a deep sense of purpose. He valued his faith, his family, and always strove to be a good person—a sentiment that he instilled in everyone around him.
Monroe was a technology enthusiast and had a knack for working with computers. He loved tinkering with videos, photos, and digital projects, always creating something special for his friends and family. Whether it was a simple photo album or a fully edited family video, his creativity and attention to detail were unmatched.
