Morris (Hap) Edwards' Obituary
EDWARDS, MORRIS (HAP) age 90, passed away Friday, January 31st, 2014, in Conroe, TX. He was born on August 13, 1923 in Live Oak, California to Oliver and Bessie Edwards. He moved to Texas, met and married Jean Grimmitt of Plano, TX. Continuing his career in radio and electronics in Dallas with several avionics groups, Happy opened his own company, Edwards Avionics at the former Redbird Airport. He was an accomplished pilot, a member of the Bonanza Flying Club and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He loved flying, taking his aircraft to numerous “fly-ins” throughout the country. Happy and Jean were breeders of champion German Shepherds and Pembroke Welsh Corgis, owning and showing several of their own award winning canines. Happy is a former member of the North Texas Pembroke Welsh Corgi Fanciers and along with Jean, was instrumental in their rescue program. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Edwards; his son, Dale Edwards; and his daughter, Jennifer Edwards McQueen. He is survived by his daughter, Jamor Edwards Mochel and husband, Chet of Montgomery, TX; son in law, James McQueen of Bangs, TX; grandchildren, Daleen Bays and husband, Ron of Stockton, Mo.; CPT John Mochel (USMC) and wife, Lindsey of Topsail Beach, NC.; James McQueen II and Jaleen McQueen of Bangs, TX. Happy had several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a wonderful extended family. His family will receive friends at the Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave. in Dallas from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 followed by a celebration of his life, officiated by Rev. Michael Waco. The family will then attend to interment. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Hap’s memory be made to the St. Jude’s Childrens’ Hospital, his favorite charity.
