Morris Dunleavy Shannon Jr.'s Obituary
Morris D. Shannon, Jr. received his long-awaited heavenly reward and met Jesus face to face on Sunday, November 5, 2023.
Morris was born in Port Arthur, TX on February 28, 1933 to Lillian Rose McManus Shannon and Morris Dunleavy Shannon.
Dallas became home while attending Southern Methodist University where he played tackle for the Mustangs. Soon after graduating, he was drafted into the military and honorably served a stint in Korea. In 1959, he joined Republic National Bank and began a dedicated and successful career as a Dallas banker, retiring in 1995.
A Baptist deacon, he loved his God, his country, his family and the Dallas Cowboys. A dedicated fan, he enjoyed being an original season ticket holder from their first game at the Cotton Bowl.
Morris was predeceased by his son, Patrick, his parents, and sister, Mary Rose. His memory will be cherished by his wife of 62 years, Louanne, daughter Leslie, sisters-in-law Helen Garner and Linda Blansitt, extended family and a host of friends.
