Mozelle Margaret Carlisle's Obituary
Carlisle, Mozelle Shaw Gipson Went peacefully to see her Lord on November 22, 2008 after a short bout with cancer. She had lived 94 years of devotion to those she loved and was most beloved in return. Mozelle was born in Kerens, TX on July 6, 1914 and spent most of her childhood in Tyler, TX where she graduated from high school and Tyler Business College. She is survived by daughter, Beverly Gipson Rigsby; granddaughter & husband, Julie and Rick White; 3 step-children, Charles and Johnny Carlisle, Marsha Carlisle Twiss; and 5 step- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, John B. Carlisle. Also preceding her in death were parents, Mack Rushin & Jessie Ellis Shaw and first husband, Merrill Gipson, all of Tyler; grandson, Tony Rigsby and son-in- law, Bill Rigsby, both of Richardson. Mozelle was a 28 year employee of Texas Power & Light in Tyler and during WWII was recruited by them to do a man’s job as storekeeper since most of the young men had been drafted. She retired in 1965. Mozelle was a long time resident of Richardson and Garland and was living in Richardson at the time of her death. She had been a member of Richardson Heights Baptist Church for more than 40 years. As a long time member at Heights Baptist, Mozelle was devoted to her church and the many caring and loving members who became faithful friends. She always said that she and John were privileged to have been associated with such dedicated parishioners and to have participated in its growth from small numbers to the large congregation it is today. Death held no fear over Mozelle because she had a faithful relationship with God and knew that those loved ones who had gone before would be waiting for her. Her mother, Jessie, always used to promise that she would meet her loved ones when they came. Now Mozelle will see those dear faces again and there will be a joyful reunion in Heaven. Beverly and Julie are grateful for the care Mozelle received at The Plaza and the loving attention she received from the caregivers from Heart to Heart Hospice and Home Instead. Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home on Greenville Ave. on Tuesday, November 25 from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be in Restland Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, November 26 at 12:30pm.
