Muriel Clara Smith's Obituary
SMITH, MURIEL CLARA HALL passed peacefully into eternal life on April 2, 2013 in Dallas, TX at the age of 90. Muriel was born on July 10, 1922 in San Antonio, TX to Lela C. Ellis Hall and Lonzo DeWitt Hall. Muriel graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1940. She married Edward Maylon Smith on April 7, 1945, and they were married for 55 years until his death in 2001. They raised two daughters in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas. She worked as a legal administrative assistant for several Dallas law firms and insurance companies. Muriel and Ed were members of St. Paul’s Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward M. Smith and her sisters, Mildred Hall Drews and Hazel Hall Hendricks. Muriel is survived by daughters, Linda Smith Meeks and husband, Larry and Carol Smith Baker and husband, Stephen; grandchildren, Allison Baker Vieger and husband Taylor, Bryan Baker and wife Hilary, Clark Baker, Brent Meeks and wife Cassie, and Emily Meeks; great-grandsons, Luke Baker and Hudson Baker; sister, Shirley Hall Stuart; five nieces and 1 nephew. Muriel loved to travel, cheer for the Dallas Cowboys, and was well known as a gracious hostess. She was an extraordinary friend, mother and grandmother, our loyal fan and most steadfast supporter. She enjoyed serving others, her family and community selflessly. She leaves a great legacy for her children and grandchildren, and a wonderful example for all of us. Our “Skeeter” will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to express our thanks to Muriel’s tireless companions Virginia Teskey and Grace Glenn, and all of the kind caregivers at Caruth Haven Assisted Living, especially, Calyon Johnson. A memorial service will be held at Restland Memorial Chapel on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, 6464 E. Lovers Ln., Dallas TX 75214.
