Muriel Catherine Swann-Smith's Obituary
Muriel Catherine, was the only child born into the parentage of Chrystal Swann and Blanche Bell Swann Clark on April 9, 1926 in Dallas, Texas. She was a graduate Lincoln High School in 1944. She received her B.A.Degree from Texas College. She received her graduate degree in Education from Southern Methodist University in 1971. She began her career as an educator in the mid 1950’s in the Dallas Independent School District where she taught at several elementary and middle schools including Phyllis Wheatley, John Henry Brown, Pearl C. Anderson, W.W. Bushman and B.F. Darrell. She retired in 1990 after more than 35 plus years in the field of education. Muriel was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, INC. and was a beloved “Delta Dear” with over 50 years of membership and service. Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Adderson “A.G.”George Smith (1981). She is survived by two sons, Steven George Smith; grandchildren (Steven Michael & Christopher Allen) and Alrich Gerard Smith (Yolanda Smith) grandchildren (Amanda Nicole & Kyle Anthony), one niece, Wanda Barksdale, one nephew, John Baysinger and a host of great nieces and nephews.A visitation for Ms. Smith will be on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Cedar Crest CME Church, located at 1616 E. Illinois, Dallas, Texas.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243.
