Murray Michael McColloch's Obituary
McColloch, Murray Michael Of Dallas, passed away on October 28, 2010, from the loving arms of his family into the loving arms of his Lord. Born June 9, 1926, in Los Angeles, California to C.L. and Irma S. McColloch, he graduated from Wentworth Military Academy and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. Murray received his AB degree with Highest Honors in 1949 from the University of Maryland where he proudly served as the Drum Major for the Terps marching band. In 1952 he was awarded his LLD degree from Harvard Law School, after which he served as law clerk to the Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and as counsel on the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee. After two years in private law practice in Los Angeles, Murray began a long and distinguished legal career focused on government relations as general counsel for life insurance companies in Los Angeles, Richmond, Virginia, New York City and Dallas, where he resided from 1976 until his death. He was a published author and served tirelessly in leadership positions in numerous industry associations, civic and charitable organizations, and churches. Murray is survived by his wife of 57 years, his beloved Jane, whom he adored and cared for daily as she has struggled with recent infirmity. Murray and Jane enjoyed a life rich with family, world travel and Christian service. Murray is also survived by his sons S. Michael McColloch and Mark L. McColloch, daughter-in law Janet McColloch, and loving grandchildren Anne Lindsey, Catherine and Michael, all of Dallas. In retirement Murray authored a childrens’ book and served in leadership positions at his retirement community, including coordinating weekly worship services for shut-in residents. Murray was known for his infectious optimism and sense of humor, never complaining of life’s travails. His positive outlook and loving service to others will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010, at the Sanctuary of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd., Dallas. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association .
