Myers Thornton Dr.'s Obituary
Dr. Myers Thornton was born in Valentine, Texas on March 26, 1925 to Lillie Myers Thornton and Henry Moore Thornton. He died on July 11, 2008. His family moved to Pearsall, Texas, when he was 7. He graduated from Pearsall High School and enrolled at SMU in the V-12 program in 1943. After SMU, Myers attended Baylor University College of Dentistry, graduating in 1947. After serving 2 years on active duty in the Navy, he returned to Dallas to begin his practice of Pediatric Dentistry. He was a member of the Dallas County Dental Society and a past president of the American Society of Dentistry for Children. He was a member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church where he served on the leadership board in many areas. He was a member of the Adult Forum Sunday School class. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie; his children: Mary Jane and husband Chuck Kettlewell of Garland, David and wife Grace Thornton of Grandbury; Bill and wife, Cindy Thornton of Southlake; Sally and husband Doug DeWaay of Northridge, California; his 8 grandchildren; Bryan, Jenny and Emily Kettlewell; Katy, Carlye and Lily Thornton; Mason Thornton and Connor Mays. He is also survived by his sister, Lady Gracelyn Boney of Gatesville, TX. A memorial service will be held at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church on Saturday July 19, 2008, at 2PM.
