Myra Jean Holcomb's Obituary
Myra Wood Holcomb passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Oxford Glen Memory Care of Carrollton, Texas. She was born in Delta County, Texas on May 10, 1923 to Hugh Chester Wood and Carrie Agnes Traylor Wood, graduated from Cooper High School in Delta County, and attended one year at “The University” in Austin, Texas. She was forever a Longhorn fan.
Myra worked for George W. Jalonick, III for over 40 years as an executive assistant at Southwest Airmotive Co., Dallas Love Field and for Mr. Jalonick and family after retirement. She was proud of serving as an officer in the company and was well respected earning awards such as Secretary of the Year.
She enjoyed memberships in Executive Women International and Dallas Needlework & Textile Guild where she was recognized for leadership and organizational skills serving in several board positions including president. As a skilled needleworker Myra enjoyed stitching, knitting, beading, and various decorative arts leaving us many beautiful pieces to share.
Myra was preceded in death by husband Bryce Holcomb, parents, siblings Lydia Wood Fetzer, Edith Wood Robinson, Oscar Wood, and Royce Wood, and several beloved nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Cox of Dallas, grandchildren Carrie Cox Mash and husband Mark of Durham NC, and John Cox and wife Amberley of Roanoke, TX. She is also survived by great grandchildren Ethan and Ryan Mash, and Madison and Hudson Cox. She will be remembered fondly for her loving and generous nature by her extended family including grand nieces and nephews and many friends.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff of Oxford Glen Memory Care of Carrollton and The Reserve of North Dallas for the loving care given to Myra in her final years.

Myra’s life will be celebrated by family and friends at a graveside service next to her beloved husband, Bryce, in the Field of Honor at Restland Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 9, 2020.
