Myrtle Lee Henderson's Obituary
Myrtle Lee Henderson, born on June 3, 1921, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024, at the age of 103. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Mary Hartfield-Smith, her beloved husband, LZ Henderson, her grandson, Michael Johnson, her brothers, Mose, Ralph, Fred, Johnnie B.; her sisters, Leola, Hallie Williams, Celeste Smith, and Ollie Holland.
Myrtle is survived by her loving daughter, Jane Spencer Jackson; her cherished grandchildren, Marilyn Johnson, Shelia Rollinson, Timothy Jackson, and Bernadette Williams; as well as 10 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews.
A dedicated member of the American Legion, as well as a faithful member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church for over 70 years, where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Myrtle found joy in reading her Bible, gardening, playing bingo, and solving puzzles. Myrtle loved The Lord & her hobbies brought her immense happiness and kept her spirit vibrant.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Temika and Tamika, Chaplain Dave and Courtney, and all of the staff at Alinea Hospice for their exceptional care and comfort provided to Myrtle during her good and bad days. Special thanks also go to the entire staff of Cheyenne Medical Lodge, who treated Myrtle with the utmost care and love, as if she were their own family.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17, beginning at 9:00 am at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 1819 N. Washington Ave., Dallas, TX, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am. A short Graveside Service will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6000 SRL Thornton Fwy., Dallas, TX.
Myrtle Lee Henderson will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her legacy of love, kindness, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
