Myrtle Doris Smith Pate's Obituary
Myrtle Doris Smith Pate, of Princeton, Texas passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025 at home surrounded by her family and friends. Myrtle was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was born on July 24, 1933 in Rochester, Texas to Henry Wiley Smith and Hazel Gertrude Gauntt Smith. Myrtle graduated High School from Matson School near Weinert, Texas. She attended some college in Fort Worth at Texas Wesleyan College where she met her husband, William David Pate on a blind date. They were married in Kennedale, Texas on September 17, 1955.
Myrtle’s favorite things were sewing and family. In recent years, she spent a lot of her time doing genealogy (which she was very good at) and work in the church Family Search Center assisting people by helping them connect with their ancestors.
Myrtle is survived by brothers Don Smith (Etta), Fred Smith (Kay), David Smith (Sherry); daughters Pamela Moffitt (Ed), Karen Gibbons (Robert) and Rene’ Lentz. Son Rodney Pate (Susie). Grandchildren: Chris Moffitt (Heather), Tiffany Wright (Austin) Mike Moffitt, Matt Moffitt (Jamie), Jennifer Sabin (Jeff), Steve Gibbons (Jazmin), Andrew Gibbons (Jennifer), Elizabeth Gibbons (Javi), Elaine Segovia (Jaren), Kevin Lentz (Tasha), Erika Sadler (Donny) Jon Lentz, Katie Pate, Kellie Pate, Will Pate, 30 Great Gandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Hazel Smith, sisters Zadie Mae and Margaret, brother Hugh, husband William David Pate, great grandchildren Kayla Nicole Lentz-Gonzales and Layla Rene’ Sadler.
The visitation will be held from 6 – 8 o’clock p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025 at the Restland Funeral Home at 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 651 E Stacy Rd, Fairview, TX 75069. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park.
