Na Nay's Obituary
On Monday, February 2, 1920, Van Nap and Nay Prolorng gave birth to Na Nay in Khum Baprey, Cambodia. She was joined by her siblings – Bun Seng, Moa Sreng, and Nay Tang Eng. In 1938, at the age of 18, Na Nay married Kim Leng in their hometown of Baprey. They welcomed their first child, David, in 1939. Following their first son, they welcomed 7 other children into the world: Kim Jr., Chhun, Chanthan, Chanthoeun, Chantha, Chan, and Sophal. They all successfully married and had families of their own. Na and Kim had a total of 18 grandchildren, ranging from the ages of 22-42 years old. From there, they have 10 great-grandchildren, with the youngest being 1 year old. In October 1980, Na, Kim, and all 8 of their children (plus 6 grandchildren) moved to America. They settled in Oklahoma City. With her children having to work, Na had the responsibility of looking after all her grandchildren. After 10 years in Oklahoma, Na and Kim decided to move to Dallas to live with their second to youngest daughter, Chan and her husband Sovann. For 27 years, Dallas was her home. Some of the things Na Nay held close to her heart was her family and her home country, Cambodia. At the age of 77, she decided to make her first trek back to Cambodia. She was devoted to helping the people of her country, especially the children. She built a school in her hometown of Baprey in 1998, solely dedicated to the education of young children. For 20 + years, she continued her charity work in Kun Thak Bopha Hospital and helped build temples throughout Cambodia. In her everyday life, she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. She loved cooking, listening to Cambodian news, and cheering on her Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners. But most of all, her favorite pastime was during family gatherings. Her face lit up anytime she was surrounded by those she loved, and those who loved her. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 9:00 am, Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Restland Memorial Chapel. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
