Nadine Gipe McGee's Obituary
Nadine Heidbreder Gipe McGee went to be with her Lord on February 14,2017. She died peacefully at her home in San Antonio, Texas. A loving and insightful wife, mother and grandmother, Nadine was also a noted interior designer in both Dallas and Denver. She loved to read and was passionate about architecture, art and design her entire life. She shared that passion with her daughter traveling throughout Europe. She treasured her visits to New York to experience the arts including the theatre and museums. Nadine was born to Mary and George Heidbreder in Beggs, Oklahoma on November 4, 1925. She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1943 and from then Oklahoma A&M College (Oklahoma State University) in 1948 with a Bachelor degree in Interior Design. She rode the train from Stillwater to Dallas to begin her new life as a designer with Titche-Goettinger . In 1949 she met and married Jack Ross Gipe and enjoyed a wonderful life in Dallas, with Jack’s engineering business, Nadine’s design business, sailing at Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club, tennis at Brookhaven Country Club, many activities at Park Cities Baptist Church and raising their two children, until Jack’s death in 1974. Nadine married Louis McGee in 1977 and they enjoyed many years together in Dallas, Denver and San Antonio. After Louis’ death, Nadine remained in San Antonio to care for her son Bill until his death in 2008. During her last years, Nadine and her daughter Loraine enjoyed their regular Thursday visits, which sometimes included grandsons Seth and Clay and always included her favorite little black Schnauzer Schatzi, where Nadine dispensed advice, told stories and most importantly, reflected her fierce love for her daughter and grandsons. Nadine leaves behind her loving daughter Loraine Stuart and husband Don of Austin, grandson Seth Stuart and wife Alyssa of Austin, grandson Clay Stuart of Austin and nephews Richard Eppright and wife Anne, John Eppright and wife Sandy, David Eppright and wife Tanya, Larry Heidbreder and wife Claudia and Allen Heidbreder and wife Jan. She also leaves behind her great friend, Hazel Gilmore of Dallas. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Gipe, son Bill Gipe, husband Louis McGee and her six brothers and sisters. Nadine was a long time member of Park Cities Baptist Church, where her children were raised and her daughter was married. She was also a long time member of the American Society of Interior Designers and American Association of University Women. A graveside service to celebrate Nadine’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 24th at Restland in Dallas. The family invites you to gather at 10:00 am in State Room S/T at Restland to share memories of Nadine. Special thanks to Robert Feather, our long time minister at Park Cities Baptist Church who helped us celebrate Jack’s life in 1974, for again leading us in the celebration of Nadine’s life and joyous arrival in heaven. Nadine had a wonderful sense of humor and huge heart. She was of solid German stock and we will miss her….. She will live in our hearts forever.
