Nancy Lee Baxendale
We celebrate the life of Nancy Baxendale, a fashionable and well put-together lady with a dry sense of humor and an astute business sense.
Nancy was born in Enid Oklahoma on 11-14-1933 in Lawton Oklahoma to Gene and Ruby Snider. She had three sisters, Beverly, Barbara, and Judy, and one brother, David.
On December, 31 1952 Nancy met Bill Baxendale, a Ft. Sill serviceman, at a New Years Eve party in Lawton. The following February they were married after a short engagement.
Nancy and Bill had two children, Scott who was born in 1954 and Blair who was born in 1958.
Throughout her life Nancy was a creative individual who dabbled in multiple businesses as an entrepreneur.
She eventually worked with Bill’s sheet metal fabrication business running the office. Eventually she got her real estate license and began selling houses and commercial properties.
One of her businesses was Moore Enterprises which sold golf accessories and supplied to golf pro shops around the state of Texas. As an avid golfer herself this job offered her lots of travel and golfing experiences that she enjoyed. It was during this time when Nancy became involved with the Texas Women’s Golf Association.
In the 1980’s Nancy took up songwriting and began collaborating with other songwriters eventually writing and publishing over 500 country songs. This led to her starting her own record label: Texas Rose Records which has produced multiple albums.
Nancy is survived by her son Scott, and grandchildren John, Laura, Annie, Nicky, Kristen, and Lauren as well as several great grandchildren.
Nancy passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025 in Rowlett Tx.
Her memorial is February 28, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church of Garland, 930 W. Ave. B, Garland at 11:00 AM. Burial services will be at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Ave. at 1:00 PM.
