Nancy Louise Davis' Obituary
Nancy Shelver Davis, age 74, of Garland, Texas, was carried to her permanent home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 19, 2020.
Nancy was born on April 22, 1946, to Katherine (McLure) and James W. Wynn in Dallas, Texas. She was a graduate of Hillcrest High School and continued her education at Tyler Junior College. She was a woman with many gifts and worked as an in-home childcare giver, medical secretary, and bookkeeper. Nancy was blessed to be loved by two adoring husbands: Gaylord Alan “Al” Shelver and Thomas Clifton “Cliff” Davis.
Nancy brought light to any room she entered and drew people in with her contagious laugh and evident desire to build relationships. She had a heart for serving others and a gift for communicating with young people. She helped raise her two nieces and four nephews and cherished meaningful moments with her family over special events and holidays. Nancy loved dressing up as a clown and frequently appeared at birthday parties where she enjoyed coloring pictures and bringing laughter to others. She also treasured being “Gammy” to her step-granddaughter Alyssa. Nancy extended her care for others well beyond the family. She valued many friends at her home church, Macedonia Baptist Church of Mesquite. Since music was important to Nancy, she also looked forward to being with her church family while singing in the choir.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, one nephew, and a stillborn son. She leaves behind her two sisters and brother-in-law: Carolyn Wynn and Frank Lance of Queen City, Texas and Dorothy “Ann” Garrett of Rockwall, Texas; her stepdaughter and husband (from her marriage to Cliff Davis) Shelly and Matt Leonard, and her step-granddaughter, Alyssa Leonard of Nacogdoches, Texas. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews. From the McLure family, Nancy leaves behind nine cousins who were precious extended family to her.
A brief graveside burial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211. A memorial service at Macedonia Baptist Church, 2214 Franklin Drive, Mesquite, Texas 75150 will be announced and held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts will be gratefully received by Union Gospel Mission Dallas, 3211 Irving Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75247, or a charity of your choice.
