Nancy Jane Glosson's Obituary
Nancy Jane Glosson was born on July 2, 1947, in El Paso, Texas, to the late Edwin Wesley and Mattie Mae Mangram, the youngest of six children. She died peacefully in her sleep at home early the morning of March 4, 2026, after battling a long illness.
In 1958, as a child, Nacy was baptized and accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She became an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church in El Paso, Texas, where she served in various ministries, including the Starlight Band, Usher Board, Junior Choir, and the Baptist Training Unit. Additionally, she regularly attended the Sunday Worship Services, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School.
Nancy attended Frederick Douglass Elementary School and later graduated from El Paso Technical High School. She attended Texas Western College (now UTEP), where she met her future husband, Julius Glosson.
Nancy and Julius married on June 25, 1966, beginning a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion. Their union was blessed with three children—Yvonne, Julius III, and Demetria—who were the center of Nancy’s world and the recipients of her constant love and care. A devoted wife and steadfast partner, she built a loving home, nurtured her children with patience and wisdom, and remained faithfully by her husband's side until his untimely passing on March 31, 1983.
Nancy dedicated 38 years to Arlington Park Community Learning Center, caring deeply for students, teachers, administrators, staff, and families. Because of her compassion, dedication, and hard work, she earned numerous awards and accolades.
After retirement, Nancy devoted even more of her time to the people she loved most—her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandson. She found joy in creating special memories, sharing wisdom, offering encouragement, and pouring love into them.
Nancy leaves behind her children: Yvonne Glosson, Julius III Glosson (Elizabeth), and Demetria Newkirk (Darren); her grandchildren: Veronica, Eric, Brandi, Elijah, Olivia, Madison, and Trey; and her great-grandson, Bryce. She is also survived by sisters: Sallie Berry and Edwina Leverett (JD); sisters-in-law, Marguerite Mangram and Joyce Dorn (Roosevelt); brothers-in-law Clyde Glosson (Susan) and Edwin Glosson (Jackie); and Godson Reginald Edwin Berry, Jr., along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Julius Calvin Glosson Jr.; parents, Edwin Wesley Mangram and Mattie Mae Mangram; her brother, Abb Mangram; brother Richard Mangram (Dorothy); sister Judy Carlisle (Alex); sister-in-law, Mary Glosson Davis; and brother-in-law, Charles Berry.
Nancy’s love, strength, and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who was fortunate to know her. She will be remembered for her faith, humor, devotion, service, warmth, kindness, and quiet strength.
