Nancy Louise Housewright's Obituary
Nancy Louise Straiton Housewright a dear wife, mother, and friend to many, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 11, 2016. She passed away peacefully after a month long illness. She fought courageously, always remaining hopeful, always thinking of others, just as she lived her entire life. Nancy will be missed mightily, but she was ready to leave the struggles of this world and go home. Her friends and family rejoice that the Lord took her without prolonged suffering. In Nancy’s final moments, family members were at her side, expressing their love and praising her for an unparalleled life of service to others and devotion to God. Nancy was born Nov. 16, 1934, in Fort Worth to James W. and Louise Straiton. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1952 and enrolled in the University of Texas, where she met her future husband, Joe Tipton Housewright, as a freshman. The two married Aug. 21, 1954, in Austin and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary shortly before Tipton passed away. Nancy and Tipton had two sons: James Tipton and Edwin Wallis. She found her calling in being a mother. She constantly encouraged, supported and, when necessary, corrected her sons. She set the standard for mothers. Although Nancy never worked outside the home, she stayed busy helping her husband manage his commercial real estate business. While he made the deals, she maintained the records. She had an incredible eye for detail that made the business successful. Nancy and Tipton were active members of Casa View Christian Church, where they made many lifelong friends. Later, they attended Scofield Memorial Church and made more friends. Nancy’s hobbies included reading, needlepoint, playing the piano, and caring for her beloved pets. She is survived by sons, James Tipton and Edwin Wallis of Dallas; Tip’s wife, Lana; and grandchildren Liz of Chicago and John, Alex, Will, Elyse and Connor, all of Dallas. Nancy also leaves close friend Debbie Blank, who cared for her faithfully in recent years and became like a sister. Visitation will be form 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Restland Memorial Chapel.
