I first met Nancy in about the early to mid 1990's when her son Jim and his wife DJ moved into the house across the street from me and my brother Jimmy in Carrollton, TX. I met her when she would come to visit. We eventually moved to Newport, WA. to be nearer some relatives, but never lost touch with the Johnson's. I was so happy when they finally moved to Poetry, near Terrell in a place that suited their needs well and Nancy had the master bedroom in the new establishment. Then came the cows and I wondered how Nancy would take to that. I think the cows loved her, especially when she would go to the fence and hand feed them some goodies. Truly a great mother, even to the cows! I will always be greatfull for her kindness to me and my brother. I will cherish the attention and kindness she bestowed on us when we visited The "ranch", even the last time I was there and her health was waning. I lost my brother in 2011. I remember Nancy was almost in tears as she greeted me on my trip there after his passing. I am 84. She had four years on me. I think as we get older we begin to understand death as being part of life. I am enriched as having known Nancy and her remaining family, Jim and DJ. I will always remember her. I will miss her, but faith makes me happy in heart that someday I will see her again as I believe I will see my own mother again that I lost at 17 years old. It is faith and close friends that keeps me going. God bless her and Jim and DJ.
