Nancy Joe Jones Simmons' Obituary
Nancy Joe Jones Simmons passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. She was born on May 7, 1936 in Gadsden, Alabama to Berlie and Jesse Jones. Nancy graduated in 1954 from Emma Sansom High School in Gadsden. She married Huston Earl Lewis Simmons from Attalla, AL on August 20, 1955 in Dade County, Georgia.
Over the years they lived in Birmingham, AL, Dallas, TX and Dothan, AL before settling in the Dallas area to raise their family. Nancy worked for Forney Engineering in Dallas for many years before retiring to live full time at their lake house in Tawakoni, TX. She loved having family and friends gather at the lake for cookouts and enjoyed watching all of the kids that all called her Granny. She was deeply involved in her church and served as the church secretary for many years at Free Bridge Baptist Church.
Nancy Joe was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Huston in April 2000 and her younger brother Glenn Jones and many cousins.
Nancy Joe is survived by her sister Mary Bray, her son Andrew Simmons and wife Deborah of Lucas, TX. Her daughter Loretta Spear and husband James of Ft Worth, TX. Grandchildren Rebekah Simmons (Garrett Cox), Hannah Simmons Probasco (Tyler), Nathan Bradford (Erica), Michael Bradford, and Christina Bradford. Great Grandchildren Hayley and Aubrey Bradford, Wyatt and Ryder Bradford, Devon Bradford.
Services will be on Friday, January 28th at 10:00am at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. Family visitation will precede the services at 9:00am, Restland Memorial Chapel.
Services will be streamed live thru the Restland website.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Free Bridge Baptist Church, 8794 Hwy 276 in Point, TX in her name.
