Nancy Jean Mallette's Obituary
After battling COPD and cancer, Nancy passed away in the presence of her family at her home in Garland, Texas on Monday, November 29, 2010. She was born July 6, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa. At the age of 19, she joined the United States Navy and later married Lloyd H. “Trap” Mallette on March 17, 1963. Nancy’s hobbies were ceramics and needlework. She was a long-time member of the Plano Elk DOES. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Trap; parents, Rex and Jean Canfield; and brother, Rex Canfield. She is survived by daughter, Pamela Trautmann and husband, Lee; granddaughter, Melissa Starr and husband, Ed; grandson, Roy Kemble; great grandson, Jacob; new grandson, Isaac due in April, 2011; brother, Bob Canfield and wife, Sally; Trap’s children son, Mike Mallette and daughter, Mollie Mallette Erickson; sister-in-law, Bonnie Mallette and mate, Charles; niece, Julie Tomlinson and husband, Rodney; and, beloved nephew, Ryan Tomlinson. Nancy was very blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family in her life. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Plano – Richardson DOES #221. These donations are awarded in the form of college scholarships for area kids. Visitation services will be from 5 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2010 at the Restland Wildwood Chapel.
